If you are a business owner and you have big goals, then you probably experience overwhelm when the number of things you need to do and the things you want to do start to get way out of hand. This is normal, but a frustrating place to be especially if you become like a deer in headlights and freeze and stop moving forward with any of your projects when you are overwhelmed.
Here are three simple steps to get out of overwhelm and onto moving forward towards your goals. This is an exercise I take all of my clients through. After doing these three simple steps they are amazed at how quickly they feel better.
1. Do a mini workshop. Write down everything that is on your list or in your head that you think you need or want to do. I call this my 3 am list, the things that you think of in the middle of the night that keep you from sleeping. Don’t judge the items on your list or try to write down the most important things first just write and keep going until you feel like you got it all down.
2. Prioritize your list. Number them in order of priority. You should have a mixture of short term and long term projects. At this time you will also see which projects can be lumped together.
3. Chunk it down. Take the top priority project and chunk it down into doable tasks. For example: many of my clients want to revise their website and it doesn’t get done because it sounds so big and overwhelming but when you break it into baby steps (choose WordPress theme, pick topic for optin gift, etc) suddenly it becomes easy to take action and make progress.
Let me know what you have determined is your top priority project and your first baby step in the comments below.
